Both options are great, but one or the other (or even neither) may be best suited to exactly fit your company’s business model, or precisely suit the organizational outcomes that you are trying to achieve.

At Pricefx, over the last decade, we have assessed what are customers need from a pricing software solution and have tailored our offering accordingly. Based on this, we have a good idea of what customers want or need to make the best decision for them and for us.

After reading this article, you might eventually choose Pricefx as your pricing software solution, or in the end you may choose Zilliant or even yet another pricing software company for your business needs.

However, we would like you to have all the relevant information you need to make the best possible decision for your organization.

Before beginning, please note that:

Now, let’s take an in-depth look at Pricefx vs Zilliant and see how the two pricing software companies stack-up, examining the strengths and weaknesses of each and what they can offer to your business.

Pricefx Competitors – The Top 7 Decision Criteria

Depending on the type of pricing software product your company will require and your specific needs, there is a distinct set of criteria that you can use as a guideline while looking for the best software product.

When working at its best, pricing software should make it easy for you to implement pricing strategies that will maximize your profits and while taking in a range of consumer and market supply and demand factors.

For good or bad, not all pricing software is created equally, and each company has their stronger or weaker points. Pricefx and Zilliant are no different in that regard and each has a different range of functionality.

With that in mind, let’s move forward and examine the Top 7 comparison criteria for pricing software solutions that will determine how we compare to Zilliant.

  1. Self-Sufficiency
  2. Ease of Use
  3. Shortest Time to Value
  4. Easiest Integration with Existing Systems
  5. Most Accessible and User-Friendly AI Capabilities
  6. Most Comprehensive Coverage of Current and Future Requirements
  7. Best Solution for My Industry

Check out this review from G2 on Pricefx vs Zilliant, or read on to see how we compare.

1. Self-Sufficiency

Winner – Pricefx

Pricefx will be your pricing software of choice if you are looking for a solution that is straight forward enough to operate yourself without seeking constant input from the provider, with an extensive training program to support you on that journey to independence.

Whether you want to change the look and feel to better suit your end users, or even change your overall pricing strategy, Pricefx either offers an intuitive solution to make it so, or a training course designed entirely with your company’s self-sufficiency as the goal.

While Zilliant has a wealth of resources on its website, including podcasts, webinars, case studies, e-books, and offers its customers the opportunity to partner with customer success for training, a structured training path dedicated to self-sufficiency is missing. With some G2 reviewers noting there is a learning curve involved in navigating the tool confidently, this would accelerate that process.

That being said, Zilliant is also reviewed as being straightforward to use without training for some features, so depending on which capabilities are of interest to you, an extensive training period may not be required to achieve self-sufficiency on the platform.

2. Ease of Use

Winner – Zilliant

Closely related to the self-sufficiency question is that of ease of use, and in this category, Zilliant is the clear winner.

On Zilliant’s G2 page, they have a rating of 8.2 in that category (compared to our own 7.7 rating). To match, Zilliant customers on G2 regularly praise the platform for being easy to use and quick to learn.

On the flip side, Pricefx customers rate our Ease of Admin and Set Up as much higher and friendlier to use than Zilliant. By being able to set up our solution without hiccups, users are well on their way to administering the tools themselves without extensive external support.

3. Shortest Time to Value

Winner – Pricefx

According to findings from peer-to-peer review site, G2, Pricefx continues to sweep the floor in this category with a 5-month lead ahead of Zilliant in average ROI payback, with an average of 20 months compared to Zillliant’s 25-month average.

The majority of Pricefx customers (25%) achieved ROI payback in 6 months or less, compared to just 11% of Zilliant customers within the same timeframe. In fact, the majority of Zilliant customers (33%) see ROI payback within 13-24 months.

So, if you’re looking for the most optimal time to ROI, then Pricefx is the obvious choice.

4. Easiest Integration with Existing Systems

Winner – Pricefx/Zilliant- Tie

Both Zilliant and Pricefx are known for having an overall seamless integration with third-party systems.

Zilliant offers easy integration with Salesforce with a number of native connectors available on AppExchange. It also offers native integration with SAP and Oracle systems, on-premise ERP instances, S/4HANA, and more, through a real-time API or flat-line integration.

On the other hand, Pricefx is a great choice if you’re operating in multiple systems across markets with diverse customer bases and large product lists. We can seamlessly integrate our software with any of your systems like another ERP or CRM system such as SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, IBM AS/400 (or any combination of those and/or other systems) and therefore, be well suited to your organization’s requirements through its flexibility.

Unfortunately, not enough data is available on G2 from Zilliant users to come up with a true winner here.

5. Most Accessible and User-Friendly AI Capabilities

Winner – Pricefx

While both companies revolve their pricing software solutions around Artificial Intelligence (AI), they take slightly different approaches to it.

On the one hand, Zilliant is well known in the pricing software industry for its impressive price optimization capabilities and over 20 years of data science expertise supported by strong artificial intelligence technology (drawing from a diverse pool of methods, some as complex as neural networks). Despite the sophistication of its AI, Zilliant claims to follow a “crystal box” approach to AI to enable users to understand and interact with the algorithms behind pricing outcomes.

If it is strictly price optimization or sales management that you require, delivered by experts in data science, then Zilliant is a great choice for you.

Meanwhile, our AI technology is transparent and practical, serving a wide array of capabilities including analytics, price management, price guidance, price optimization, rebate management, and other areas targeting a company’s unique pricing pain points. With our user-friendly AI, you really don’t have to choose.

Pricefx AI Optimization, our AI-powered price optimization software, is a great choice for businesses with a wide array of use cases in mind who need to solve problems quickly – without the red tape of highly sophisticated algorithms that need to be explained.

Ultimately, the most “user-friendly” AI is one which easily accomplishes a company’s unique business goals. With our AI, a user can simply enter the business goal they want to achieve, and the engine does the rest, identifying the optimal List, Discount, Agreement, among other capabilities, to make it happen.

Roll in the newly crafted Generative AI capabilities in terms of product similarity optimization assistance and search function improvements plus the reasons we’ve outlined, clearly, Pricefx takes the crown in this category.

6. Most Comprehensive Coverage of Current and Future Requirements

Winner – Pricefx

Generally speaking, G2 reviewers voted Zilliant as the software platform that meets requirements best with a slight lead of 86% ahead of Pricefx’s 83%.

That being said, let’s take a closer look at each platform’s strengths to understand how they can best serve your specific requirements.

Pricefx has a 360° suite of pricing solutions that enables you to price more intelligently at every stage of the pricing process, including data analytics and optimization, quoting, channel management and more. Powered by AI and machine learning, Pricefx ensures that no matter what step you are in the pricing process, you have any number of up-to-date pricing tools at your disposal to round out a complete Next Gen pricing package.

Zilliant’s focus started with data science and its leading price optimization speaks to that. Apart from price optimization, it is known as a great option for price management and sales management.

That being said, several G2 reviews (such as this one, this one, and this one) have noted that the solution still has some ways to go with respect to serving the complex needs of large enterprise-level companies. Meanwhile, Pricefx has been selected by G2 as the leader in enterprise pricing software, well ahead of Zilliant and comparable competitors.

So, while Zilliant is a great fit for companies looking to solve their pricing problems at a smaller scale, Pricefx is the best choice for its scalability and the range of its offer.

7. Best Solution for My Industry

Winner – Depends on the industry

Of course, the answer to this question depends entirely on which industry your company is involved in.

Zilliant is well known for providing pricing software services for Distribution, Manufacturing, and Services, and offers a suite of pricing and sales solutions catering specifically to challenges faced by each specific industry.

On the other hand, while our platform can be used by any industry, we do cater to ‘Big 5’ key vertical industry sectors.

The industries we currently serve include:

  • Discrete Manufacturing: Pricefx offers price and negotiation guidance, product pricing and positioning features, as well as analytical capabilities to measure performance and assess risk.
  • Chemical and Process Industry: Pricefx supports greater transparency in rebate performance to better align agreements with business goals and ensure accuracy in payouts.
  • Distribution: Pricefx helps distributors optimize their pricing to reflect market changes and cost fluctuations quickly and accurately, as well as pinpoint customer-specific pricing, improve margins, and optimize rebate and agreement setups.
  • Food and Beverage: Pricefx provides companies in the food and beverage sector with tools to maximize profitability through adaptable pricing strategies, responding in record time to evolving market conditions and customer segments.

Our industry focus areas are continuing to evolve and grow, as our software is designed to be fully industry-agnostic. If we can configure the platform to support diverse industries, from Ski Ticketing to Spare Parts, we are confident we can also meet your company’s unique pricing needs.

Zilliant could conceivably be best for you if you are searching for a pure price optimization tool and are looking to outsource your data interpretation to your pricing software provider. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a more overall price management tool that you can operate for yourself, we might be more the pricing software that you are seeking.
