Meet Batiste: From Corporate to Tech at Pricefx

In this article, you will meet Batiste, a French native who found his career path at Pricefx. He talks about his switch from corporate to tech, his roles, the company culture, and his plans for the future.

What led you to transition from a corporate world like Johnson & Johnson to Pricefx?

Four and a half years ago, I moved from France and was looking for a job somewhere in Europe, which landed me in the Czech Republic. I found myself longing for a change from the corporate setting, particularly because I viewed tech as the future. The opportunity at Pricefx felt like a good fit, offering the chance to work in sales – something I was very interested in – and a more flexible, start-up type of environment. 

What drew you to the BDR role initially, and what’s the difference between it and your current role as a Demand Generation Specialist? 

As a BDR, you’re on the front line of sales, reaching out to people, booking meetings, understanding their needs, and targeting companies. The contact with people was challenging but interesting. However, transitioning to a Demand Generation Specialist role, I now serve as the link between marketing and sales. It’s a complex but rewarding role that allows me to analyze the sales funnel, see where our efforts should be focused, and improve what’s not working. 

How big is your team? 

It’s just me and my manager. The BDR team consists of three people in Europe, four people in the US and one person in Australia. 

How would you describe the company culture at Pricefx? 

The culture is very friendly, open-minded, and inclusive. Everybody is welcoming, and you can interact freely across departments. One of the best points is the transparency of the leadership, giving you a clear picture of where the company is heading. 

Can you give me examples of this transparency? 

Our CEO, Ronak, regularly updates us about the company’s activities and plans. Similarly, our founder, Marcin, sends a weekly diary explaining his activities and meetings. We are also encouraged to stay updated with recent news and developments in the company. 

What are some of the benefits or office perks that you enjoy the most? 

The office is conveniently located and has an open, well-designed space. It’s social, but also provides quiet areas for focused work. And, of course, the free food is a major perk! 

How do you take advantage of the company’s flexibility? 

As I work a lot with the US, the flexibility allows me to start later and work with my colleagues during their business hours. I have a varied schedule depending on my tasks and errands, which gives me the freedom to manage my work-life balance effectively. 

Do you primarily work from the office, from home, or are you often traveling? 

It’s a mix. I spend about 50% of my time at the office, and the rest working from home or traveling, whether for personal trips or to enjoy nature. 

What are your future plans? 

At this stage, my main focus is on mastering my role as a Demand Generation Specialist. Depending on my progress and discussions with my manager, the next step could be moving up to a manager role in this field.
